New kitchen....

When we first moved into our house over 2 years ago, I knew that the kitchen was going to need to be redone to make it look the way that I wanted. We have redone almost every other area of our house, so it is now the kitchen's turn. We had orange, heavily grained (AKA tiger striped) oak cabinets.
**I have a before picture, but I have to find it**

Here is a picture of the cabinets after they had been sanded by my very handsome contractor (AKA...my husband) LOL
****Please notice that we have no dishes, no cups or any thing in most of the cabinets, but you see that the coffee pot is sitting on the counter front and center, right???****

And here is the picture of the cabinets in their present state.

We used a color called cake batter (how appropriate for a kitchen, huh?) I love the color and the way that the cabinets have turned out. The color does get tricky because it changes with the time of day/different types of lighting. But, all of the different tints of cake batter look amazing to me! It has completely changed the way the kitchen looks!!

The next project on our list is to antique the doors a bit with a glaze and clear lacquer. Then, we will be looking into a new tile floor which will also go on the bottom of the cabinets (where the "tiger stripes" still shine through) almost like a kick plate of sorts. Finally, we will get a stainless steel oven and microwave to match the dishwasher and refrigerator.

That looks amazing! I am jealous that you have a husband hat is home to help, and that you have such a great house.

Thanks, Cindy! I can't imagine how hard it is to have my husband deployed and I give you sooo much credit for being a great mom and strong woman! If you want, we could always have a makeover party and come over to help you at some point. : ) PS...When can we expect a blog update from you?? LOL
