Made in America?

Is anything made in America anymore? I have often wondered this. So, when I was watching the news this morning, I was pleased to see that Diane Sawyer is doing a special on that very topic. They went into an American family's home and took out everything made abroad. It turns out that they were left with a vase with flowers, the kitchen sink and a few sheets. In promoting the show, they said that if every American purchased $64.00 worth of American made goods this year, that would create 200,000 jobs here. Seems easy, right? Considering the state of our economy, it would be well worth the effort to do research and buy American made items. No offense to other countries importing items to us, however, we need to find a way to fix our economical disaster! It just makes sense. Here and here are a few websites that you can go to that will guide you to American made items and their companies.

Wow, that's amazing! Although I bet it would be the same at my house. I think it's sometimes really hard to see where a product is from before you buy it. I think American made products should be better advertised as being "American Made". If 2 similar products are side by side, and one is marketed as being made here, I bet people would make different choices.

I agree 100%...it is hard to determine where your products are made unless there is a big sticker saying "Made in _____" A lot of products don't have anything on it to let consumers know where it was made. Or, the product parts are made in a completely different place than where the item is assembled. I think I am going to watch the videos on this link: http://abcnews.go.com/WN/MadeInAmerica/
and then see what I can do to buy American.
